Becoming Wise

How can a person have wisdom? Wisdom comes from God. He makes it freely available to anyone who seeks Him. Here are simple ways to get wisdom. First, pray and ask God to give you wisdom. He is the giver of all wisdom, and He wants you to earnestly desire and seek after His wisdom. Second, open the Bible daily and read. Reflect and meditate on the Word of God. You could read in the morning or before you go to sleep at night or really any time that works well for you. You could read by yourself or with a group of people. There is so much wisdom you can gain from reading the Word of God. The life-changing truth of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection transforms the whole worldincluding us! Learn from the ways and life of Jesus. He knew when to speak and when to be silent. He said the right words at the right time. He has these qualities of being wise: He is loving, peaceful, gentle, understanding, merciful, compassionate, and true. He is the perfect embodiment of wisdom. And, if you’ve put your trust in Jesus, He lives in you through the Holy Spirit, giving you a constant source of wisdom and guidance. Third, spend time listening to wise people. This could include your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, pastors, teachers, youth leaders, and many others. Spend time being with them, observing them and learning from their way of living and from their mistakes. Fourth, seek out media that is filled with wisdomgood books, edifying movies and shows, and powerful music. Engaging with art like this can help you hone your skills of discernment. Wisdom is a gift from God. Look to Jesus, the source of all wisdom, and trust Him to guide you toward His wisdom. Golda Dilema Do you sometimes feel like you could never be wise? What are some nuggets of wisdom you’ve learned from Scripture? But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others.
