Have you ever heard of a hall of fame? Chances are you have, because there are so many of them for so many things. A hall of fame is made of people or even animals who are known for excelling in a certain area. For example, in Peru, Indiana, they have a museum for the International Circus Hall of Fame, honoring those who have contributed in a big way to the history of the circus. Halls of fame centered around sports might be the most well-known and common types. There is even a hall of fame for North American sports mascots. It exists to honor mascots who have had a good impact on their sport and community. Some professions even have halls of fame, like the International Insurance Hall of Fame, made up of people who have done something new and exciting in the insurance field. Did you know the Bible also has a hall of fame? Hebrews 11 is known as the Hall of Faith. It lists several people from the Old Testament who stood on God’s promises, which find their ultimate fulfillment in Jesus. As these people stood on those promises, they were enabled to do mighty things for Jesus’ kingdomeven in the face of persecution and other suffering. The Hall of Faith reminds us that, through faith in Christ alone, we are a part of a family and a kingdom that cannot be shaken (Hebrews 12:28). Melissa Yeagle Read Romans 3:23 and Ephesians 2:8-10. Why is it impossible to be a Christian without faith? Read Romans 3:21-26, Galatians 2:20, and 2 Peter 3:1-9. What does it mean to live by faith in Jesus’ promises? Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (CSB)
